Applying for a Bursary to DebConf

There are a few different types of bursary available for DebConf, funded from different budgets:

Debian Funded Bursaries

Any member of the Debian community is welcome to request a bursary (sponsorship) to attend DebConf. As in previous years, we will do our best to offer sponsored food and accommodation to Debian contributors, but this assistance is subject to demand and available funding. When applying, you will be asked to select the support you need. We can offer support for food, accommodation, and/or travel. If you need advice on your bursary application, the team is available at bursaries@debconf.org to help you. Please describe your level of involvement in the Debian project, in your application: new to the project, contributor, Debian maintainer, or Debian Developer. This helps us allocate bursaries fairly. The bursaries team will try to ensure that budget will be available for all active Debian Developers who need a travel bursary to receive one.

Dependents

If you are travelling with a dependent (spouse, partner, child, or other) who also requires support, you may request one food & accommodation bursary for them without additional justification, subject to budget availability. Please explicitly request this in your application and state the name or username of the dependent.

Diversity Bursaries

The goal of Diversity Bursaries is to bring new people to DebConf — people just getting started in free software or with Debian, contributors who make non-coding contributions, and contributors who are trying to attend their first DebConf. If you’re interested in being considered for a diversity bursary, please tell us a bit about yourself and why you want to come to DebConf:

We would especially like to hear from:

Diversity Bursaries are only open to new DebConf attendees and previous recipients of a Diversity Bursary are not eligible — they are encouraged to apply for a Debian Funded Bursary instead.
