We will talk about the state of packaging Jabber/XMPP software in Debian. It’s a BoF, so everything depends on you ;-)

On Monday, 1999-01-04, Jeremie Miller released the first version of jabberd. So Jabber (or XMPP as it is called nowadays) is almost as old as Debian!

I’ll give an abstract on what Jabber/XMPP is, where it is in use today, and why it still matters.

Then I’ll give an overview of Jabber/XMPP packages in Debian.
