Accepted Talks:
Bits from Brazil
Since 2022 We have talked at DebConf reporting the activities of Debian community in Brazil. For us, this moment has been important to be accountable for our work, especially when it involves financial support from Debian.
We will talk about the activities we have done since DebConf25 (2025/2026) sush as: - The organization and the numbers of MiniDebConf Campinas 2026: https://campinas.mini.debconf.org - The work done by Brazilian Localization and Brazilian Developer Teams: how we work, what areas of work we have, how we split the tasks, how we bring new contributors.
We believe that sharing our Brazilian experiencies, We will encourage other Debian communities around the world to organize their activies and bring their experiencies to future DebConfs. Together we can exchange ideas, experiencies, sucess cases, and so on.
We would like to use this space to listen the audience and return to Brazil with new ideias.
Organize the Debian Day in your city
This presentation has two goals:
I will present what Debian Day is, Its importance to the Debian community, and why the event should take place in various cities around the world. The first goal is to ensure that those attending the presentation return to their cities with renewed enthusiasm to organize Debian Day with their local communities.
The second objective is to report on the work we have done in Brazil in 2024 and 2025, When we created a group of local organizers to jointly request financial assistance from DPL to cover the expenses in each city. The Debian funding was used to pay for coffee breaks, cakes, produce graphic materials such as banners, flyers, stickers, etc. I will show other cities can follow this idea and request assistance from DPL. Thanks to this work, we had a record number of Brazilian cities organizing Debian Day in 2025: 15.
