Marcos Talau is a Brazilian Debian Developer, holds a PhD in Computer Science, and is a professor. He has years of experience teaching Debian packaging in academic courses, as well as in lectures and workshops delivered at events including MiniDebConfs.

Practical Introduction to Debian Packaging

Provides an introduction to software packaging on Debian. Practically, the following topics are covered: .deb structure; Environment creation; Debianization from source; Main packaging files; Lintian; QA (Quality Assurance) examples. At the end, you can choose an official Debian package to perform a QA task.

If possible, please bring your laptop with a Debian or derivative operating system installed.

This workshop will be presented in English, but as I am Brazilian, I understand Spanish quite well, so if you have any questions, feel free to speak in Spanish if you feel more comfortable.
